HOTEL VILLA MAGNA

Sounding, and in many respects looking, like a proper Roman villa, Villa Magna is a favourite of many a regular visitor to Madrid, having recently benefitted from a huge refurb which added techie extras like flat screen TV/mirrors, a new gym and a Michelin-starred chef to its already impressive repertoire. Don’t let the jaunty jewel tones in the marbled lobby fool you – cobalt blue sofas and blown glass ornaments are kept strictly to the lower public levels, leaving the cracked leather sofas, quilted cream headboards, panelled walls, bucket loads of floor space, and the cleanest lines in town to the guestrooms – and did we mention the terraces? You can just imagine a modern-day Caecillius swanning around the place in his toga – though Roman-style baths are sadly not included.
