In terms of value for money, you’d be hard pressed to find a better deal in London than that offered by the Shaftesbury Hotels chain. It’s a group of functional and – for the price – excellently designed properties, with high value extras like free broadband and full English breakfast (eggs, beans, bacon, sausages, the lot) included in the price if you book directly online. The hotels are clustered around the Bayswater and Paddington area with little to separate them, though the non-Best Western branded properties tend to have friendlier staff. Join their free loyalty programme for complimentary room upgrades when available.
