The big three broken down generally read like this: Oxford Street is for the masses, Regent Street is full of foreigners, and Bond Street is brand heavy. Oxford Street’s only real saving grace is Selfridges, though the giant Topshop down the road has recently had a new space installed with a heavy focus on male customers, including in-store concessions by Rough Trade and Sharps Barbers and new niche menswear labels. Regent Street’s hit-ups should include Cos for simple, stylish pieces (plus it’s currently the only store in the UK, so worth a gander), Aquascutum, Burberry and Hackett for classic Brit-ware, and if you’re feeling techy, the huge Apple and Nokia stores. Bond Street barely needs an introduction, though it does have a men-only Lanvin outpost as well as the usual Prada, McQueen, Vuitton et al, and Smythson is perfect for presents and stationary. Head off deeper into the West end and you’ll find tailoring and bStore on Savile Row, 5 floors of amazing fashion at Dover Street Market, and designer boutique Browns menswear store.
