With a shop on the ground floor to stock up on your Wasabi peas, and a sexy subterranean restaurant and bar below, Saki sets out to prove that sushi isn’t just for cold fish. Deep red walls and dark, moody lighting offset a central table constructed around a well of white pebbles holding up glowing, otherworldly stalagmites. Fanciful design aside, the chefs here are masters of their craft, turning out beautifully presented dishes from spicy tuna rolls and salmon roe to hot noodle soups (from the futuristic machine upstairs) and small Kobachi plates. And as if you needed an excuse to fill up on sake, you’ll find a visit to the loos here a paperless experience having imported ‘Washlets’ from Japan for your enjoyment. Drink up.
