Another Alan Yau production, Hakkasan is the man’s Shanghai style show-horse, serving highly stylised Chinese dishes to a high-rolling clientele of celebrities, dignitaries, and the odd Arab sheik, who no doubt appreciate the expensive surroundings and glamorous, 30s low-lit décor. A very sexy bar and lacquered, latticed, screened off dining room provide the backdrop for inventive, modern Chinese dishes including Peking duck with beluga caviar, baked silver cod with Chinese rice water, and Pi pa duck in spiced plum sauce.
