Combining the hubbub of street food with a legacy of royal banquettes, Amaya serves some of the best Indian in town – and that’s saying something for a country whose national dish, rather sadly, is the curry. The interiors are super stylish, dark and glamorous enough for the clientele walking in straight off a spree at neighbouring Harvey Nics. There is however, a distinct lack of tandoori here, as the restaurant prides itself on its grills, with native chefs concentrating on local delicacies from inside an open kitchen with bustling tandoor, sigri and tawa stations alongside noisy bread whirling and whapping. As such you won’t get starters or mains, rather a selection of stunningly presented, aromatic tapas style dishes meant to share.
