Secreted away in the heart of Belgravia, you get the sense of being cocooned by calm at The Halkin. Down a quiet side street off Belgravia, but close enough to luxury Sloane shopping and Hyde Park life. Hardly surprising then that the interiors here have taken on a distinctly Asian sensibility, from the Zen-like public spaces to the five residential floors, themed according to the ancient elements (earth, air, fire etc). The deep, dark corridors hide secret doorways into chic curved rooms which subtly meld Italian design (the hotel belongs to the COMO group) with an oriental influence which extends to the Michelin-starred Thai restaurant, nahm, downstairs.

The Halkin Hotel is a sanctuary of peace and calm located in the heart of the lively English capital. With a discreet address in London´s Belgravia, this hotel is the perfect place to discover the essence of a five-star experience with its quiet glamour, poised service and chic interiors. Its style is timeless, a gentle ode to classicism combined with urbane Italian aesthetics. The intangible elements are the ones which the hotel strives to fulfil, making the hotel a place to relax in and be waited on, to rest and recharge, leaving yourself feeling invigorated.

18.5 of 20. And what rooms they are, outfitted in what can only be described as Milanese Zen, rich leathers and soothing muted colors doing their best to expand the already generous space (which in London counts as a real luxury). Each floor takes on as its theme one of the four ancient elements (five, if you count sky), but the differences are subtle enough to avoid gimmickry; all four are as unassumingly elegant as can be. The marble bathrooms are expansive, and the COMO Shambhala bath products add to the culture shock—you may have to walk outside and see the building’s Georgian facade to reassure yourself that this is indeed London.
