A veritable institution on the London gay scene, the RVT is the city’s longest standing gay venue with a grand history of camp entertainment, variety shows and drag – hosting Lily Savage four nights a week in the 80s. Nowadays its unassuming Victorian exterior hosts some of the most enjoyable nights out on the gay calendar, with bingo, comedy, cabaret and heavily attended music events all on offer, including the popular Duckie night on Saturdays hosted by Amy Lamé and a new ‘alternative’ fringe festival throughout August. Above all go for the welcoming, inclusive atmosphere and bucket loads of fun without any pretensions.
