Dalston isn’t exactly high on most people’s ‘going out’ lists, largely because of its tube-less location (though that’s set to change with the East London Line opening sometime next year), and an increasing population of yuppy coffee-drinkers taking over what was once considered a proper East-end, Shoreditchian-esque spot. Opened only last year, Dalston Superstore is the lovechild of Disco Bloodbath and Trailer Trash (club-night legends) and has become swiftly known for its eclectic line ups, awesome theme nights and tongue-in-cheek events which keep a gay sensibility without veering into the predictable. Sissy Sports is the latest such night, taking crafts, sports and games under one belt for events which include Mexican Dominoes – complete with a shot of tequila to get you started. If you don’t fancy a night of excess, pop by during the day when the upstairs serves coffee – yuppy not included. If you go at night, turn up early (before 22-ish) or get on the list, or you may leave disappointed.
