This recent addition to the East Ends menswear offerings doesn’t say Present on the front – it says ‘The Golden Horn’ on beautiful old wooden signage salvaged during the refit. And more surprisingly, your first sight on entering Present is not, as you’d think, a load of wrapped tinselly boxes, but none other than Gwilym Davies – World Barrista Champion of the year. And he’s manning a coffee machine. So whilst you get wired up on one of his flat whites, let your eye rove over a clean white space housing collections from Wings+Horns, Studio D’Artisan, Rocky Mountain Featherbed, Yuketen, Mackintosh, Nigel Cabourn, Der Sammler Solo, Nom de Guerre, Tricker’s and Haversack. Curated by the men behind Duffer of St George, the stuff here is eclectic, but cohesive in its vision to attract discerning Shoreditchian gentleman tired of the usual vintage tat.
