The only blitz taking place here will be the one about to attack your credit card, because London’s first serious vintage destination has touched down in in a converted Victorian warehouse that offers five rooms of rifling fun.
Sure, we’ve seen plenty of second-hand shops and retro treasures before, especially in this neighbourhood, but at Blitz it’s merchandised beautifully and in a refreshingly non-ramshackle way, with easily-locatable sizes and a complete eradication of digging.
Pretty much every decade is accounted for – Americana from the 40s up to an enviable collection of 80s and 90s Swatch watches – and the stock comes courtesy of established dealers, so expect plenty of dusted off designer items from the likes of Viv Westwood, Yohji Yamamoto and Ossie Clarke, as well as old posters, records, bikes, and even up-cycled furnishings courtesy of The Dog and Wardrobe.
Whatever your look, you’re more likely to find something here than anywhere else but if all else fails, settle for coffee served from a vintage Fiat and cosy up in one of the wing-backed chairs with something from the extensive book collection – or head down into the basement, which is the safest place to be. Achtung, Spitfire!
