Probably best known for its slot-machine addled Pier, Brighton may be by the seaside, but unless you want pebbles in your pants, we’d suggest staying off the beach. That said, the town still attracts hoards of Londoners looking to cut loose for a weekend and live a little. Known for its thriving music scene (Fatboy Slim is a local resident) and colourful creatives, there’s always something to catch (ahem) in any of the winding streets – and with two Prides in March and August – it’s one of the gay-friendliest cities in the UK.
