Conceived by theatre director Jules Wright, the Wapping Project is one of London’s most innovative spaces, combining art galleries in a converted hydraulic power station with an acclaimed restaurant set in the old pump house. Termed by its creators as ‘an idea consistently in transition’, it’s fair to say you can expect a lot of change between exhibitions, but that’s part of the unique atmosphere and excitement of a visit here. Expect anything from choreographed dance taking place on a huge staircase, to art exhibitions set against the stark industrial surrounds.
