The visual arts arm of the Southbank Centre follows its host’s lead by concentrating exhibition efforts on hotly anticipated shows by curators who go crazy for the space’s high ceilings and huge square footage overlooking the Thames. From total interior overhauls like the recent ‘Walking in my Mind’ which saw visitors literally walking through commissioned artist’s minds made into physical spaces, to architectural explorations in ‘Psycho Buildings’, The Hayward manages to push boundaries whilst keeping us all entertained – and if we can bear to admit it – rather educated too.
