Though hardly one of the oldest landmarks on the London riverside scene, the Eye has rapidly become one of the most easily-recognised. Thirty minutes in the air will provide an unobstructed view of the city’s skyline from one of its 32 pods (because there are 32 London boroughs, don’t y’know), which you can book in advance and even arrange with champagne, or mulled wine and mince pies come Christmas. The best time to go up is at dusk, and with a carefully manoeuvred takeoff, you’ll catch London’s lights illuminate as darkness falls.
