Mads Nørgaard is a legend on the Danish design scene, having opened his store in 1986 with the aim to “make women sexier and men rougher – with a modernist gleam in the eye”. Thankfully this brand of ‘modernism’ hasn’t become rooted in its 80s inception, and if you judge a store’s wares by the strict editing of its selection, you’ll approve of its narrow, minimalist design.
With a showroom upstairs and a menswear line that shows four times a year, the own-label includes beautifully cut form-fitting sweaters, hoodies, their signature Breton-striped tops and casual shirts as well as tailored suits, carefully arranged alongside a selection of international pieces by Prada, John Smedley and Comme des Garcons. And who could forget the ’Speak Up’ series, printing political statements including ’Free Tibet’ and ’Obama for President’ on your pants. Rolling with times…
