You get some idea about the importance of this musical trade show by the size of its venue, situated in the Berlin Tempelhof Airport. Spread across old departure gates and lobbies, participants are generally business-based and fly in from around the world to network, make connections, push sponsorships, discuss the international music scene and find out what’s making the German market tick.
Then of course there are the bands and artists covering everything from rock and indie to urban, reggae, jazz and electo, representing their home countries on the Day Stages and hitting the nightclub circuit by night as part of Berlin Music Week.
The event culminates in a guaranteed-to-be sold-out festival which in the past has featured headliners like Fat Boy Slim, Hot Chip, LCD Soundsystem and Robyn.
