Stars and starlets have flocked to this new-wave grill house since it opened, with various reviewers singing its praises to cinematic proportions – the way this lot carps on, one wonders where its Academy Award is stashed. But if the accolades go to show anything, it’s that Berlin has been crying out for a decent grill joint. Set out like a cool, laid-back clubhouse with views on the river Spree, with deep dark woods, heritage tweedy banquettes and lit-up refrigerators filled with the finest cuts of Argentinean fillets, American steaks and Australian Wagyu, it’s a casually elegant den, the likes of which the city is still unfamiliar with. Which might explain the mandatory reservations policy (if you want a table, bar dining is possible), the groups of local celebrities forking out the dough, and the raucous late-night antics that ensue past midnight.
