It’s true that some hotel restaurants can be slightly soulless representations of a specific cuisine to keep the foreign punters happy – happily there are also the kind that are true gems nestled in already luxurious surroundings. Fischers Fritz is of the latter category, holding the city’s only two-Michelin starred title, and serving up Christian Lohse’s francophile dishes and fish specialities. If you don’t want to shell out for a full-on dinner, check out the affordable set-lunch menus. The interiors are as you would expect from a Regent: bedecked with crystal chandeliers, sectioned off spaces for secluded dining and crisp linens. Not that the culinary King is without a sense of humour – pop by the restaurant on one of their ‘murder mystery’ nights and take part in an extended version of real-life Cluedo, or have your lunch with a side of art, courtesy of a tour around the Nolde Foundation.
