Borchardt’s catering pedigree stretches back to the reign of Kaiser Wilhelm II, when August F.W. Borchardt was deigned the designated chef to the emperor. As such, the space has become a honey pot for the city’s politicians, dignitaries and influencers to come and enjoy classic cuisine in the noble space surrounded by marble pillars, intricate mosaics and, of course, the celebrity of their fellow diners. The lunch options run at a much more reasonable price but also attracts a much more sober business-y clientele, so if you can stomach not eating with the in-crowd, this is your ticket to try the historical pedigree without losing your wallet – or will to live.
