Everything is for sale at the aptly named Kauf dich Glücklich (‘buy yourself happy’), and although there’s plenty of gems among the knickknacks, vintage accessories and pieces of furniture, most keep to the waffles, home-made ice cream and freshly made soups. The place gets very busy on hot days – 30 minute waits are not uncommon – but isn’t only for sweet tooths hoping to cool down; the savoury waffles make for a satisfying brunch, too. The goat cheese and sundried tomato combo is highly recommended while the italophile tomato-mozzarella-pesto is another house favourite. The place has another nearby outlet on Kastanienallee 54.
