The wonky Campers footwear is hardly the height of boutique luxury living (unless we’re missing a trend here) so don’t be put off by the shoe brand association – there won’t be any singing round the campfire here. If you’re familiar with the Barcelona hotel, then you won’t find any surprises but another ‘home away from home’ with the same excellent service and personal touches like hand written hotel info notes (although perhaps they could’ve swapped the his’n’hers slippers to his’n’his) that have made the original a firm house favourite. Aesthetics are kept super simple with rooms featuring deep red walls and light wood furniture, retro-looking phones and cheeky lift buttons outside that say ‘walk down, it’s healthier’. There’s no gym, but included extras like free Wi-Fi and a top floor tentempié that replaces the usual in-room mini bar with a 24-hour free buffet at guests’ disposal. Take your spoils back to your room or, if you’re in the mood for something a bit more formal (and costly), check out Dos Palillos, the excellent Spanish-Japanese fusion tapas restaurant run by former El Bulli chef Albert Raurich.
