OSTSTRAND

The Oststrand is by far the largest of Berlin’s urban beaches and big enough to offer different ‘vibes’ across each of the bars and concession stands dotted around the 7,000 square meter beach. The atmosphere is severely laid back, even for Berlin, but salsa dancing and volley ball nets are offered for those who don’t think taking in the view of the television tower counts as exercise. Getting to Oststrand is slightly more cumbersome than some of the other beach bars in town, but the ten-minute walk from the S-Bahn station is along the longest stretch of the Berlin Wall still standing. So by the time you hit your sun lounger, you’ve already taken in your daily dose of culture.
