Where most German words can often be called upon to be bitingly obvious in their translations (e.g., Zahnfleisch = tooth meat = gums, nice huh) the Tiergarten has nothing to do with a garden of animals. Well, unless you count the swathes of half-naked men, cavorting in the grass come summer, as ‘animalistic’.

Lose your inhibitions in this beautiful park with its hand-holding perfect tree-lined avenues, cruising opportunities on the Löwenbrücke (Lion Bridge), and the clothing-optional sunbathing on the 'Tuntenwiese' ('queen meadow' - the park's gay-central) - just southeast of Siegessäule (the Victory Column) off Hofjägeralle. There’s also a couple of hardcore saunas on the Kurfürstenstrasse, should darkness be taking too long to fall.
