Fans of Helmut Newton’s highly eroticised, often fetishistic studies of the female form must make a stop at this tributary museum of the Berlin-born photographer’s work and personal property. Camera equipment, films, the famous ‘newtonmobile’ and of course documentation of his staggering array of work, from issues of Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar to old exhibition posters, are all on display in the permanent collection. Temporary shows include the recent collaboration with Taschen, who were persuaded to release photographs from a limited edition coffee table tome, ‘Sumo’ sold only to 10,000 very rich customers before the cheaper (and smaller) paperback version made it accessible to commoners.
