TIERGARTEN-POTSDAMER PLATZ
As if there weren’t enough wieners to be found in town, the nude sunbathers in Tiergarten (mostly in the area near the Siegessäule victory monument) never seem fail to excite visitors. The flesh on display apart, Berlin’s sprawling urban park is a botanical, filled with lawns, waterways, landscaped gardens, and plenty of space for outdoor activities more physical than just roasting your more intimate parts. The area is also home to Berlin’s greatest concentration of government buildings and embassies and is delimited to the South by the reconstructed Potsdamer Platz. The result of a controversial redevelopment plan and more than a decade as Europe’s largest construction site, the area has now emerged as a Times Square-style entertainment and shopping complex.
