There’s plenty to like, with its reasonable prices, a wonderful pool deck with 360 degree views of the city and proximity to bars, shops and cultural attractions. In contrast to the Raval area’s other high profile hotel projects, which are located in the more gentrified parts near Plaça Catalunya, Barceló Raval has opened smack in the colourful but chaotic middle. But while some may find its pop-tastic retro-futuristic interiors (such as transparent bathroom walls) and busy lobby bar-restaurant, B Lounge, hip, cool and fun, others may find the location a bit too daring and the extras a bit over the top.

Splendia

The Hotel Barceló Raval situated in the heart of the city, has a singular oval structure and avant-garde interior design - all you need to enjoy Barcelona in style. Just around the corner from the Boquería market on the Ramblas, and five minutes walk away from contemporary art museums the MACBA and CCCB. Hotel Barceló Raval is right at the heart of the Raval district: once gritty but now the city's most dynamic area and the striking hotel building is itself a symbol of the revamped area. Interiors are refreshingly simple and stimulating with plenty of white minimalist design set off by ample sunlight. There are also many other stylish touches throughout. Add to this a cosmopolitan lounge where you (and the locals) can enjoy tapas and cocktails and walk out onto a small outdoor terrace and soak up the lively atmosphere.

18.0 of 20. You’re close to Las Ramblas, but the walk takes you through a still-improving neighborhood — so it’s perhaps not the place for the absolutely classic Barcelona pedestrian experience. But you won’t mind a bit once you’re installed in one of the rooms, where the wide-open floor plan and the funky minimal furnishings are just accessories to the main event: the views of the city itself, seen through full-length windows and the metal screen of the building’s skin.
