“Caelum” is the Latin word for Heaven- which seems rather fitting if you have a sweet tooth. Located steps from the Plaza del Pi in the old Jewish neighborhood, Caelum sells pastries, cookies and preserves made by monks and nuns from several monasteries throughout Spain. Head downstairs to the basement and have a snack in the low-lit stonewall café on the site of 400-year-old medieval public baths. If it’s made by Gods own people, it can’t be a sin. Your hips will disagree, but then there’s nothing like some late night flogging down the bars to repent.
