‘Veggie for non-veggies’ is an overused tag line by vegetarian restaurants but here it actually does fit the bill. While catering to any vegan, raw or gluten-free cravings you may have, Green Spot in Barceloneta has replaced any hippie or new wave pretense with a very grown-up and civilised vibe, along with a great contemporary design that will keep your mind off the absence of meat.

There’s standard veggie fare like salads and vegetables in raw, roasted and marinated forms, as well as a wide choice of meatless but far from tasteless hot dishes. Seriously, you won’t be missing the taste of animal when you dig into the house curry or the chili sin carne. Wash it down with a selection of juices, an exotic cocktail (quinoa vodka?) or beer and wine.

The space is beautiful, drawn up by Isay Weinfeld’s studio. The Brazilian master of understated design has left his mark with trademark wood-cladding and incorporation of green spaces for a year-round indoor-outdoor feeling. Bright and airy during daytime, warm and buzzing at night, Green Spot will pretty much, erm, hit the spot any time of the day, be it for business or leisure.
