Locals will bemoan the loss of Wushu, the Thai crowdpleaser that used to sit on this location. There’ll be no more yummy tom yams in this corner of the Born – Brad Ainsworth, the Australian owner, has now dedicated the space to perfecting the art of burger flipping.
As befits the times, the homely Kiosko specialises in fancy gourmet burgers – beef, salmon, chicken or veggie – customised at will or picked from the list of house specialties, like the Australian (red beet, bacon, and cheddar), and ordered with sides from an inspired assortment of fries and a less inspired choice of greens. Homemade condiments al gusto.
Kiosko is by no means the only – or the cheapest – place in town for a decent bun burger, but it’s certainly the most popular. If it’s too popular for your liking (it can get rammed), consider Negro Carbón just across the street, or Kiosko’s tiny sister site Bacoa that also charcoal-grills its patties with equally mouth-watering results.
