CATALINA

The bistronomics are by nature small, but this one is particularly tiny and would probably have fallen into the ‘neighhourhood joint’ category if ‘bistronomic’ didn’t sound so catchy and of-the-moment. Run by owners Josep Lacambra and Catalina Ballesté, the cuisine is perhaps slightly less experimental – the dishes are markedly more rustic and traditional in character – than what you’ll find at the other banner bearers of bistronomia. That said, it doesn’t veer from the shared philosophy of using quality seasonal ingredients procured locally from the markets, and the cooking is, as a result, no less tasty or skillful. In the words of Josep, reasonably priced doesn’t have to mean cheap, in any sense of the word.
