Revisiting rustic, traditional cuisine may be all the rage at the moment among Catalan’s top chefs, but as the name of this place suggests, the family-run Freixa Tradició is no newcomer to the game. The reins are now back with Daddy Josep Maria, after Ramon Freixa’s departure for Madrid, and while there are foodies who bewail the loss of the son and his two Michelin stars, the truth is that the old man is no slouch in the kitchen. He earned a Michelin star of his own back in 1998 when he last manned the pots. The menu now backtracks too, featuring dishes like butifarra and cod with pigs feet, employing quality ingredients and years of experience.
