Walking back from the beach along Barceloneta’s principal street is a tempting experience – with their shaded terraces and bustling trade, any of the restaurants lining this stretch seem inviting after a day in the sun. The experience can be a bit hit-or-miss, so do yourself a favour and walk back to the first place at the end of the promenade, where great seafood and a fabulous paella de fideos (noodle paella, the house specialty) await your appreciation. Pile on the alioli and tuck in. Have a starter of chipirones fritos (baby squid) if you feel extra hungry.
