Gran Hotel La Florida manages to evoke that old feeling of being off on a proper retreat, with its quiet, remote hillside setting, art nouveau decor, luxurious spa and impressive views, which make up for its distance from the city center (a complimentary shuttle service is provided). It’s a lovely hotel, albeit more old school Hollywood than Barcelona (the twinkling, velvet-clad onsite basement bar fits right in), and appropriately features an absolutely spectacular LA-style indoor-outdoor infinity pool from which to take in the cityscape panorama. But even if you decide not to stay here, make the trek for a hedonistic Sunday brunch at the L’Orangerie restaurant.
