Of all of Barcelona’s luxury hotels, this is arguably the one with the most character. Housed in a majestic modernist building, every nook and cranny oozes history – and there are plenty of them. Thanks to the building’s protected status, the rooms have had to conform to the confines of the original structure, resulting in slightly quirky layouts. The service is attentive here, if perhaps verging on snooty at times, but the view down Passeig de Gracia from the rooftop and the corner rooms alone earns Casa Fuster its five star status. And being next to both the Martin’s disco and Barcelona’s luxury shops, the location is prime whether you’re into bears or handbags.

This opulent five star hotel is a protected monument in which a Catalan Art Nouveau style, exceptional architecture, and Art Deco as well as traditional interior decoration achieve a perfect balance. Hotel Casa Fuster is housed in one of the key buildings of Catalan Art Nouveau (known as Modernisme) in Barcelona. It was built in 1908 by the architect Luis Doménech i Montaner, quickly becoming a temporary address for distinguished members of society at the time who gathered in the emblematic street level Café Vienés. Today, the café has been restored to its former glory, and is a popular meeting point for guests. The hotel is the only building which yields a panoramic view of Paseo de Gracia and is a unique vantage point for the entire city.
