Two Hotel is the second property in Barcelona from Axel Hotels and if you’re already familiar with the brand, then you should feel right at home. Coming more than a decade after their first hotel opened in Gayxample, the formula hasn’t really changed: a gay (or hetero-friendly, as the brand dictates) boutique hotel, quality-oriented, with the main needs of homo travellers all met under one roof.

Besides the rooms (well-equipped, with great beds and extra sound proofing, in case you bring home a screamer), that means a full-sized gym (and some very cruisey locker rooms) and a rooftop with hot tub, a decent pool and a happening bar scene. Like an Atlantis cruise, it’s not everybody’s cup of tea but it’s an excellent option if your main travel priority is to meet up with other sociable queers.

So should you stay here rather than the original Axel Hotel? The Sant Antoni location is adding a ten minute walk to the gay bars (with the exception of Boyberry, the next-door sleaze joint) and the main shopping areas. On the other hand, facilities are better (it’s a new, purpose-built building) and the immediate neighbourhood is becoming an interesting area for foodies. It’s down to just how gay you want to be.
