Update January 2012: GAYM didn't survive into the new year and has now closed. Are you gaym? Pathetic puns aside, Barcelona’s latest gay club also happens to be one of its oldest.
No longer run by gay mafia Matinée Group, the former Salvation changes its name from DBoy to GAYM, but the concept stays unchanged with two different rooms (turn right for pop, left for Spanish house), a sizeable and busy dark room, and more busy toilets – or should we say ‘powder rooms’? (Note: if you only need to pee, by-pass the queue for the stalls and go straight to the urinals.)
Pretty as manufactured can be, and sure to wow first timers, the place is perhaps more of a gay cliché than a real hotspot, but has nonetheless been the home for the 20-30s muscle crowd on Saturday nights for the past decade. For some old-fashioned gay clubbing, you could do worse than this.
