Small, smoky and pumping out loud Spanish 80s kitsch pop from its tinny loudspeakers, El Cangrejo is not the place to go for an intimate tête-à-tête. In its heyday, it was known for outrageous drag cabarets and was the bar of choice for the truly eccentric and those seeking a night of uninhibited fun. Nowadays the shows are still entertaining, but the audience is distinctly more downbeat with as many curious straight onlookers as gay fun-seekers.
