Strangely, given its proximity to gay mecca DBoy, Al Màximo is the only gay bar in this part of town. Tiny, friendly and intimate, it’s like a peculiar (and smoky) version of the Cheers sitcom with a Mariah Carey soundtrack. Everybody may not know your name (yet), but they certainly seem to know everybody else’s. Massimo, the Italian owner, serves up a light aperitivo buffet on Thursdays.
