The Andilana hotel and restaurant group is like a weathered drag queen. If you don’t look too closely, she can look real classy and, boy, can she give you a good time for little money. That’s also Market in a nutshell, which is more than fine-looking at night, evoking the feel of the Colonial dance halls of South East Asia with its wooden floors, dark polished furnishings, clean white walls and obliging waiters. The decor may be fake and flimsy and service only an illusion, but the rates are real enough. Conveniently located a few blocks from Gayxample, pretty-looking and at cut-rate prices, we cannot recommend it enough.

But the lodgings are anything but perfunctory — while the restaurant is a fixture in the neighborhood surrounding the Sant Antoni market, the hotel pulls its weight as well, with seventeen rooms decorated in smart monochrome hues and rich hardwoods.
