Going into hotel management is hardly the most obvious move for the producers of quirky footwear, but then, there’s really nothing conventional about this property in the heart of Raval.
For starters, sleeping and chill out quarters of rooms are separated by the hallway (yes, physically separated, please put on a robe), and there are strong nods to eco-friendliness and sustainability throughout: hammocks, hotel bicycles, and signs politely reminding you that it’s healthier to take the stairs.
If it all seems a bit too Body Shop for you, bear in mind that there are more staff than guests and as such, a level of service that has most visitors becoming hardcore fans. Next door, yet in-house, Asian-Spanish fusion restaurant Dos Palillos is highly recommended, too.

18.5 of 20. Hip doesn’t have to mean precious, of course — in keeping with the Camper brand’s down-to-earth image, the Casa Camper is pared-down and unpretentious, at least as boutique hotels go. Platform beds and exposed shelving are just about all there is to these bedrooms, each painted a deep solid red or green, each with an impressively modern and clinical all-white bathroom and just one touch of decadence: the enormous and plush white towels and robes.
