Heading north, the first beach worth stopping for is Sant Pol, an hour’s train ride or 30 minutes by car. Particular popular with gay daytrippers and nudist bathers (there’s a high overlap), the beaches and coves are well enjoyable even if you prefer to keep your kit on. To get to the nudist coves, by the Platja Roques Blanques, follow the rail tracks back towards Barcelona for about 1km from the train station. The town is also popular with gourmands, being home to Carme Ruscalleda’s three-Michelin star Sant Pau restaurant (closed Sundays and Mondays).
