A bastion of Barcelona’s indie scene, Apolo is smaller than Razzmatazz, hosting more specialized nights and attracting more selective crowds. From techno lovers to indie connoisseurs and funk and soul purists to hippies; depending on which day and what venue (Apolo proper, or its smaller sister, La [2]) you’ll be met by a totally different set of people. Weekends draw the more diverse crowds when the two venues merge like some kind of Power Ranger flashback, to become electronica powerhouse, Nitsa. The legendary Sunday gay tea dance now only takes place on special occasions, under the Matinée Group banner.
