Even if you aren’t religious, then there’s something meditatively calming about this breathtaking space. The rather dull exterior has many visitors pass it by in blissful ignorance, but step inside and marvel at the interior of this unusually spacious Gothic basilica. Devoid of the excessive bling that usually tarnish Catholic cathedrals (the result of a fire back in 1936), it’s almost as if a minimalist New York loft designer has had a go at it, and then decided to leave the original stained-glass windows. Skip the main cathedral and head straight here for your spiritual fix.
