Barcelona is Gaudí, Gaudí is Barcelona and no other place is more Gaudí than this modernist wonder. If you decide to see one thing while you’re here, make sure that it’s a stroll through this failed posh housing project turned public-access park, which like most of Antoni Gaudí’s works defy imagination. Wondrous, at times grotesque, organic structures and shapes fascinate and awe everywhere you look. Need a funny anecdote? To design the curvature of the bench surface, Gaudí used the shape of buttocks left by a naked workman sitting in wet clay. The views from the park are part of the plan – go at sunset/dusk when you can really see it transform.
