One of Barcelona’s most visited museums but, unless you’re a hardcore Picasso fan, one you might want to skip if you’re on a tight schedule. It holds an excellent and exhaustive collection of the artist’s (very) early work, which translates into lesser known engravings, lithographs and pottery; the best known show piece is his studies of Velazquez’s Las Meninas. However, the museum is not without its charms. The museum building has expanded from one to five palaces in a row in the style of 14th century Catalan gothic architecture and some might say the palaces themselves are worth the entry fee.
